Wampum: The story of Shaylyn the Clam is a beautifully illustrated hard cover book about a clam that was picked up by a little Native girl named Skawennahá:wi.
The clam was used for food and its shells as tools and also made into wampum. This book gently draws the reader into understanding wampum, wampum belts and strings. An audio CD and e-book are included and it’s aligned with the Six Nations Iroquois Program Teachers Resource Guide.
